Stygian Serials: Your Path to Publication
Stygian Serials is our manuscript submission program, harkening back to the Dickensian model of serialized publication. We publish novels and collections in monthly instalments through our blog, building an audience and paying writers throughout the process before releasing the complete work in print.
How It Works:
Your work is published in monthly instalments on the Stygian Media blog, complete with custom artwork for each chapter. This creates anticipation, builds readership, and generates momentum for your eventual print release.
What You Get:

$30 CAD per monthly instalment during serialization

Professional artwork paired with each chapter or short story (you can suggest an artist or we'll find one)

Promotion across our YouTube channel, social media, and Discord community

Full print publication upon completion

50/50 royalty split on all book sales

A built-in audience already invested in your story
What We're Looking For:

Completed or near-completed novels and collections in the horror, dark fiction, or paranormal genres
-
Works between 50,000-100,000 words
-
Strong chapter breaks that work as standalone instalments
-
Contributing creator MUST be a Canadian citizen
-
Real human work, free from AI
The Timeline:
Serialization runs 6-12 months depending on your work's length. Upon completion, your work moves into our print publication pipeline as a spotlight release, receiving priority marketing and distribution.
We pay you throughout the creation process while building the foundation for a successful book launch.

What You Get: Selected works receive a $20 (CAD) honorarium and the option to purchase print copies at cost + shipping. At the end of each year, selected works are eligible for the Stygian Seal Writing Prize.
SUBMISSION WINDOWS
For the January Issue: Submissions accepted June 1 - November 30
For the July Issue: Submissions accepted December 1 - May 31
Submissions are reviewed only for the issue cycle in which they are submitted. Works not selected will not be carried forward to future issues. You are welcome to resubmit during a new cycle.

**Works cannot have been created with the use of AI and will be checked accordingly
***If you have already been published by Stygian Media you do NOT need to pay a submission fee
